Have you had success using alternative therapies for your pets? Share your opinions here. What you have learned may help others.
Here at Desert Pearl Rescue Network, we use both Western and Eastern medicines. When it comes to muscular/skeletal issues, we have found ACUPUNCTURE to give miraculous results. In every case, we have seen AMAZING changes -- dogs and cats who couldn't walk have returned to high quality of life. Expensive and dangerous western pain medications have been eliminated.
We haven't had much luck using alternative therapies for other problems other than muscular/skeletal. If you have had any luck, please let us know.

I pretty much have to agree. I tried acupuncture on Sarah, my dog at the time. Her back was all hunched up because of a slipped disc. Surgery wasn't even an option because the condition was so severe that she had little chance of surviving the ordeal, let alone heal. So, with no where else to go, I tried acupuncture. It WORKED. I'd also call it a miracle. In one treatment, her back started to straighten out and it lasted for several days. As we continued with treatment, it lasted longer and longer. She wasn't hunched over any more and didn't appear to be in pain. We stopped all pain relievers. She lived for another couple of years before she died of old age. Throughout that time, her back was fine. Oh, by the way, it got to the point where we only went for treatment about once a months, so it wasn't very expensive and well worth it. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
When my cat was diagnosed with Leukemia, there wasn't anything the vets could do, so I tried alternative treatment. It didn't hurt Mr. Spock, but I don't think it did I thing to help him. He didn't show any improvement and I ended up putting him down just a few weeks after we had started because he had deteriorated so much. What was really sad was that he was only two years old.
When I read Benson's story, I give you guys a lot of credit. I don't think I'd try for cancer. It just doesn't seem to work!
